What We Do

We offer vocational training for change-makers!

We run Green Vocational College, a modification and continuation of the former Buwere Vocational College in the rural area of Buwama Town, Mpigi District, offering hands-on training along with social skills and ecological awareness. We enable young people to earn a decent living. We dream big and work on concepts to make dreams come true.

Our courses

Bricklaying

Shelter is one of the most fundamental human needs. The skill of proper bricklaying, the knowledge of the materials used and the motivation to learn new methods is what we aim at.

Domestic Electrician

Uganda takes great efforts to expand the supply of electricity in the countryside. Safe access to power in the homes is what our electricians will work for. We encourage them to do their job thoughtfully, responsibly and being customer friendly.

Hairdressing

Beauty and self-care are not necessarily luxuries, but expressions of dignity and the joy of living. Our hairdressers do not only learn the newest styles and fashions, but also about health issues around the products they use.

Motorcycle and Motor Vehicle Mechanic

Transport is the backbone of the economy as well as social life. We teach our students not only the skills of problem detection, maintenance and repair, but also their responsibilities concerning health and environment.

Plumbing

Laying the access to clean water and hygienic disposal of waste water is at the heart of plumbing. Students build skills like instalment of pipes, trouble-shout, repair and maintenance of plumbing systems using the highest safety standards.

Tailoring

Giving the students the ability to make garments and useful textile products gives them the opportunity to express their creative potential along with the necessary skills like measuring, cutting or operating sowing machines

Additional courses

These are voluntary courses offer no certificate (yet). We recommend students to join at least two of them.

  5. Music, Dance and Drama

We offer a variety of student activities like sports, games, TV, camp-fires and social activities in the community.

Admissions:

  • Minimum requirement is Primary Leaving Certificate (PLE), students without it may be accepted after a personal interview with student and a parent.
  • Students with handicaps will be accepted, if the school is able to supply the specific services needed. Please talk to us about it.
  • Admission deadline: any time of the year, except holidays. But it is highly recommended to turn up before or at the beginning of the first term in February.

Costs:

Per Term:

  • Tuition and boarding fees: 450.000 UGX per term
  • Tuition and day fees:225.000 UGX per term
  • Other fees like school uniforms and administrative requirements at admission: 230.000 UGX
  • We have a package for some needy students
